Hi, I’m Abbi

I am a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist, trained with EMDR Association UK, and I work with Client's virtually all over the UK.
I offer one - to - one sessions, helping you to understand, explore and learn to cope with any difficulties that you may be facing in your life.
I am extremely passionate about supporting you with your mental health difficulties to feel empowered and develop a strong sense of self - compassion. My aim is to help you to understand that your mental health and emotional wellbeing is a priority, and that accessing therapy is a perfectly normal and powerful way to build your emotional strength and resilience.
I tailor therapy to meet your needs and draw on an integrative therapy framework to apply the most useful tools and skills to ensure that you leave treatment feeling confident and equipped to apply your learning.
Formally, I am bound by the Codes of Ethics and Practice of both the BABCP and EMDR Association, hopefully giving you the confidence that both personally and professionally I am providing quality therapy.

Menopause

During my time working as a Psychotherapist and exploring contributing factors that impact mental and emotional wellbeing, I am experiencing more women accessing therapy who are navigating their journey with the Menopause and Peri - Menopause.
I often meet women who feel that they haven't been heard or understood when it comes to their symptoms of the Menopause. Very rarely have they been advised that CBT can help to significantly manage and cope with these changes.
I regularly attend additional training and skills based workshops to increase my knowledge and understanding of treating symptoms of the Menopause within a CBT framework and supporting women to feel empowered, heard and able to better manage their experience through the Menopause.

Trauma

I currently work part - time in Private Healthcare providing Trauma - Focused CBT. The aim of TF - CBT is to provide psychoeducational information to help you to understand how the brain processes trauma. TF - CBT is designed to equip you with tools and skills to help you to stabilise and ground yourself, whilst experiencing very normal responses to learning to cope with the experience of trauma.
Not everyone who experiences trauma will develop Post - Traumatic Stress Disorder and we will work collaboratively to manage any further work that might be required, if this does become evident.

Supervision

I have completed the IAPT Supervision training with Birmingham University and am able to provide Supervision to both Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and CBT Therapists working within NHS Talking Therapies.
As a Supervisor, I work collaboratively to support you to give the best experience to your Clients and offer a non - judgemental, safe space to support you through any difficulties you are experiencing within your role, including any personal impact that this may be having.
I am currently working towards my accreditation with the BABCP and offer affordable rates for Supervision.
