Following consultation, if we agree that I am a good fit for you as a Therapist and able to meet your needs, you will be provided with a written therapy contract and a request for additional information including emergency contacts and GP details, which will need to be returned prior to your first therapy session.
Assessment
During your initial assessment, we will discuss the nature and history of your difficulties and your current presenting problems.
We explore your goals for treatment and agree a preliminary set of sessions that feels suitable to target your needs.
Additionally, we will formulate your difficulties into the model of chosen therapy.
Treatment Sessions
Treatment sessions are likely to include an initial development of your understanding and socialising to your chosen treatment option.
We will explore psychoeducation and materials to develop your awareness and maintenance of your presenting problem.
Following each treatment session, you will receive an email with additional materials and resources to support the content of the session itself, which may also include experiments and tasks to work on outside of the session.
This helps to develop a toolkit of techniques and strategies to help and support you to independently maintain the changes and improvements made during therapy.
Therapies
What Can I Expect From..
-
CBT helps you to understand the connection between the way you think, how you feel and therefore, what you do.
As a treatment, CBT helps you to identify any unhelpful thought patterns or behaviour patterns that may be stopping you from being able to live your life as you would like.
The aim is to help you to build new tools, skills and strategies that can be easily implemented into your lifestyle to help you to challenge or change these patterns, regain a sense of control and feel better able to cope in a healthy way.
-
EMDR can be used to treat a wide range of difficulties.
It may be worth considering if EMDR is suitable for you if you are experiencing any signs and symptoms relating to trauma, or have any past distressing life events that you feel continue to impact you in the present.
EMDR can also help you to challenge and process unhelpful core beliefs and negative thoughts that may be keeping you feeling stuck.
-
ACT can help you to develop tools and techniques to accept difficult thoughts and feelings, rather than focusing on ways to suppress, control or eliminate them.
